Zine project

Working on some of the images i got of gay toilet graffiti. Taking the context & making it into legible type that you would find printed in a publication.

Christmas card designs

working on the idea of everyone gets socks or pants as gifts over christmas & how its a standing joke about how naff of a gift they can be. A play on words plus more typography play.

Jermaine Francis poster... revamp!

Reworking my original poster in a style that is more fitting with the Feed studio & previous posters promoting events with Feed. Wanted to try & work out the issues i was having with the typography, plus also simplify the page structure. Although i see the appeal, i find my original attempt more exciting, trying to cut it up & giggle it about in a David Carson kind of way.

First live brief set @ the feed studio to design a poster for a forthcoming event-

Trying to address the issues i have with type & layout.

Zine Project

For my Zine project i have decided to study the art of toilet graffiti, especially that of a gay nature and explicit contents. I want to take samples of toilet graffiti & turn it on its head by publishing it as a legitimate paper or magazine advert. Public toilet art is confined to the stalls its written in, when most of it is trying to reach out to others! i plan to bridge that gap & take 'toilet advertising' mainstream, thus turning it on its head.

Cinema4D animation

More recent cinema4D animation to try & visually express my thoughts of creating a moving image from still taken from a camera, inspired by the zeotrope. It is unpolished as it is just a test subject to act as a spring board to where i want to take the final animation.

Reform inspiration;

the zoetrope;

Been trying to pull all my idea together & i think i have some sort of vision now, Im going to concentrate on the concept of my hybrid rather than the physical object itself. I looked at both my objects & started making a list for each containing words associated with that object as well as power phrases. I started to piece together a few simple animations to try & build a bigger picture of how i wanted my final animation to look. this is one that i think i may use, it is playing on how some people view god & how we interact with cameras. I want my final animation to be like a flickering show real to try and capture the process of several still images. I have also been looking at the zoetrope, as how i was picturing my final idea reminded me of that kind of way of animating several still pictures that a camera may take, plus the person looking in would be a nod towards the fact of some people think that there is a higher power that looks down on us & watches us.

FMP idea

Was chatting to Adam during the London trip & trying to find a interest to base my FMP on, although nothing was generated from the talk i did think about what was said regarding my small obsession with always trying to get everything right, neat & tidy. This led me to look at OCD and how it effected people. I find this really interesting and think it could be a good starting block for my FMP project as it is something that I to a certain extent already understand. I found this video on youtube that was made by guy suffering from OCD and thought it sparked many different options & routes to follow;

Reform Drawings

After Scanning some of mine & Sam's drawings into my computer i started to quickly mess around with them in photoshop to see what kind of collage effect i could achieve before starting on them with good old fashioned scissors & glue. This collage that i did was then cut up physically & used again to form new designs.

Reform Drawings stage 2

After scanning my sketches into the computer i started playing around with its form & layout, this is one piece that i produced. I realy like this design as it is visualy pleasing & creates an impact, it reminds me of some of mackintosh's art.

wk2 @ feed - Reform Breif

My chosen object to study, draw & work from is a city centre based church. I liked this building because of the shapes & forms it created from different angles. Above are my initial pictures;

wk1 @ feed - my thoughts...

I really enjoyed today's session @ the feed studio, to start with i was a little unsure about so many different campus groups and people coming together, but I soon found myself settled after a friendly post-it note game by Adam.

I suppose i was unsure how this part of the course would fit into my existing timetable but after today i am all geared up to go and cant wait to get back there next week!

The first brief of finding and drawing an object for next weeks session has already got my cogs turning, i have a feeling I'm really going to like this....

wk1 @ feed

01-10-2009
First installment @ the feed studio Millennium point & i found it to be a productive day! we were set the task of pairing off for a 'mini brief' challenge. We had to find out as much information about our partner then create a A4 black & white poster to show our findings.

I was paired with Ben who is also from Sutton Campus, left is my finished piece.
